Line 1: Line 1:
Cruise Disruptors are weapons designed to deliver a spherical disruption field around a target. This disruption field effectively restarts impulse engine systems which, in turn, disengage cruise engines - hence cruise disruptors - bringing the target back to impulse speed. For accuracy and range, this weapon is normally enclosed in a roaming missile form.

Through practical experience in the field, it's been figured by a number of combat pilots that the weapon's disruption field is also capable of setting off mines, missiles and torpedoes. This side effect and the fact that the weapon restarts a ship's impulse engines - normally used as a counter to the [[Engine_Kill|engine killing]] tactic - made the Cruise Disruptors an attractive multi-purpose weapon. Originally preferred amongst pirates and law enforcement pilots, it soon became a worthy alternative to other weapons, specially for fighters.
