History

Oliver "Clockwork" Evans was born to a working class family on Planet Leeds. His family was never able to afford very much and, due to the environmental damage to the planet, his parents both died when he was fairly young. They were both able to see their son start toward a productive future however as he was admitted and attended Cambridge University.

During the course of his engineering studies on Cambridge, a few things happened to Oliver. First, his parents died as a result of lung-related illness caused by living on Planet Leeds. Second, he fell in with some of the Gaian radicals on campus. Third, he learned he was excellent at engineering small devices. He started putting this to use in making small incendiary devices for the Gaian radicals he knew. They always worked well and his new nickname, Clockwork, was born as his bombs worked with clockwork precision. Unfortunately, Clockwork also had a tendency to get in fights and was subsequently kicked out of the University.

After being removed from his studies, Clockwork moved around a while trying to find a place for himself. For several years, he spent time alternating between the Battleship Hood and Barrier Gate. He had a fondness for the racing in Dublin and participated whenever he could with his own home built ships. It was also a great place to find people who were interested in his engineering services, which also led to his visits to Barrier Gate. He had a comfortable life building devices of destruction and gambling on races.

A chance visit to Trafalgar in early 818 proved a life changing one. A group of Underloch Gaians happened in for supplies and began talking to Clockwork. In turn, this led him to join the Gaians full time as a pilot, mechanic, and engineering specialist. Today, he enjoys living on Islay Base and destroying things.
