Tags are used to identify pilot's primary faction association. Tag in Discovery does not mean the conventional clan tag, but a game defined faction name. Example: Hessians - [RHA]Kaspar.Meisnerr, where the bold text is the tag. Color of the targeting brackets under tag and name tells ship's stance towards your tag, i.e. it's red if he is hostile to you, white if neutral, green if friendly and purple if he's in group with you.
Your tag is determined by your reputation. Whichever faction is flashing on your reputation sheet is the one that other players will see.
To change your tag, bring the flashing reputation down to neutral (white) by:
- Bribing enemies of the faction that is flashing,
- Shooting NPC ships or depots of the flashing faction,
- Take missions of that faction and abort them until their reputation is neutral.
