The Epinal, an honoured Richelieu class battleship, is stationed near the jump gate from Champagne to Lorraine. Securing the Lorraine mine fields is on very high priority for the Gallic Royal Navy, since revealing the route from Lorraine into the Outcast territory will make Gallia vulnerable for Outcasts who will consider the House as a new and convenient market for spreading their notorious drug, Cardamine.
