James Kurios is a officer of the LPI, who in combination with the LPI Advanced AI unit 137, commonly referred to as harvy for his suspected harvester origins, have been testing out experemental LPI safety technology and keeping liberty safe from bandits. He also is the head patriot instructor, teaching all the wanna-bees the ropes of flying in a ship that is made of tissue paper.
Background
Early Life
Born on Erie, at the age of 16, he was forced out of the home in search of employment. Returning as a apprentice mechanic, he was allowed re-admittance into the family. After 2 years of labor, while keeping up with studies at Michigan High, He graduated in the top 100 of his class (out of 300 kids) After graduation, he moved onto becoming a ejector seat test pilot, doing the fine duty of making sure the seats wouldn't kill the pilots they where intended to save. After Being Jettisoned repeatedly, He resigned from the job to take up training as a LPI officer. From there, he received honors, and took up the mantle of a officer in the LPI.
Early Years in the LPI
After becoming a officer, he proved himself as a fighter and was shown to have a natural knack for both losing vessels and not getting himself killed. After many bouts with the ejector seat system, and the stress of his early work, he was advised by the LPI medical corps that ejecting so much wasn't so good for his health. Due to the amount of time spent among Human Resources, James had somewhat befriended the machines that ran the department that could best be described as harvesters, and with their help, he was able to come up with a plan to remotely pilot fighter craft using the standard neural interface given to LPI fighter jockies to improve their reaction time and control of their ships, and one of the spare "harvester" units.
This system had many advantages. For one, being hooked up to a machine meant that he not only had the memory of a machine, but also the ability to do complex intercepts and flight paths in a few nanoseconds and on the fly, instead of the normal, instinctual way that was normally done. Another advantage was the reduced risk to the pilots. The "harvester" portion of the meld gained access to human fuzzy logic and creative skills, vastly improving its standard approaches and increasing its process speeds for combat plans. The disadvantage to this combination is the limits of communication, which currently limit operations to New York. If the ship was to jump into another system, it would be a uncontrolled hulk, drifting endlessly in space. While this system was approved for testing, it has not seen widespread usage yet in the LPI, and remains a part of the Experimental Division. Recently, he was punished for his undertakings, and promoted to Sergeant, a move that is greatly regretted within his career, and is currently attempting to avoid further promotions within the LPI.
Present
Currently, James can be found teaching the newbies how to fly a patriot efficiently and effectively, but when hes not yelling at the newbies, he can be seen patrolling around New York and in the local sunbucks cafe.
