Early Life
Randy was born on Planet Manhattan, his parents were both pilots for the Independent Miners Guild. However, after Randy was born they changed to the Mining division rather then the dangerous defense. So most of Randy's childhood was spent aboard mining vessels or ore transports, since his young age didn't allow him to do much, rather then help out the mechanics here and there. In his teenage years, his family had saved enough money to send him to an engineering university, so he went back to Liberty for his education, the years with the mechanics had already given a huge bonus so he quickly finished his education with the top notes and quickly returned back to his parents side as a engineer and mechanic for the IMG.

Randy was born on Planet Manhattan to Derrick and Catherine Orbit, both transport pilots for the Independent Miners Guild. After Randy's birth, his parents had requested -and were transferred- to the IMG's hardworking and difficult Mining Division as senior officers to Mining Vessels of various sizes. Most of Randy's childhood was spent aboard mining vessels, ore transports and several stations in the dangerous border worlds. It was at this early age that he had learned the ins and outs of ship structures, following the mechanics closely where ever they went and by the time he had went through his earlier teenage years he was a qualified IMG ship mechanic. His parents however, wanted him to have a real education and with Randy willing, sent him to an expensive engineering university on Manhattan. While Randy had a difficult time at first learning the higher maths required, his last years he had passed with full grades and honors, his first hand experience whilst a mechanic with the IMG had helped. He then returned to the even-more-dangerous Taus to his family and signed up as an engineer within the Mining Division.

His first experiences of piloting a ship was quickly after he had joined the Guild, along with his assignment to the usual mining ships, he was also qualified for pilot training, which took a month for the most. But he soon returned to his work on the mining ships, and continued that for the next 6 months, easily taking the title of the best mechanic of his time.

Randy had "flown" ships before as a child, as his parents would allow him on the pilot seat on down-times under supervision but his first real experience of piloting ships was quickly after he had joined the Guild. He was qualified for pilot training of both the mining and transport vessels he usually worked on, but also as an amateur fighter-pilot. However, even with his new pilot qualifications after his pilot training, he returned to working as an engineer on large mining ships full time and in a year's time was known to be among the Guild's most efficient engineers.

Turning Point
In the year 816, Randy's parents died, along with his fiancée Sarah. A simple outcast bomber blew up his parents' transport while Sarah was in it as well, and the escape pods after they had ejected. Randy was of course not very much himself after that, he took up drinking, and often got furious for no reason at all, he left his duties and took off in his ship, and wasn't seen in the Taus all the time, there were rumors that he had actually gone into a depression and killed himself. Though he returned a month later and got back to working on another mining rig, he didn't get drunk anymore, or wasn't mad, more like he had no soul at all, no emotions. No one dared to ask anything about what had happened.

In the year 816, both of Randy's parents had returned to the Guild's logistics and transportation division and continued their work as transport pilots and then captains. At this time Randy was also engaged to a Libertonian analyst named Carol who was working for the Guild. In a tragic twist of fate, both Randy's parents and his fiancé Carol were aboard an ore shipping transport when it was attacked by a small Outcast strike group, a couple of bombers had turned the transport into a molten wreck. There were no survivors reported and the ship's state as well as the absence of any escape pods had confirmed the deaths.

A few weeks after he returned, he had applied for citizenship for the Colonial Republic and had also been accepted into the 44th battlegroup.

The psychological blow to Randy was more than he could withstand, he took up drinking and was often in fits of rage at anything and everything, he soon resigned from his duties and took off in a personal fighter and wasn't seen for months. People had assumed he either "accomplished" suicide in his depressive state or attempted to go on an Outcast killing spree with his amateur fighter piloting skills and had simply been blown apart. Both theories proved wrong as he returned to the Guild a few months later a changed man and was quickly accepted back into the Guild. He no longer was angry, however he had distanced himself from anyone else and kept to himself and worked like a machine. A few weeks after his return, he applied for citizenship within the Colonial Republic and signed up for the military.

Today
Captain and CAG Randy Orbit, known as 'Reaper' among the Colonial 44th Battle group, is one of the most dedicated and loyal pilots the Republic has. His combat performance isn't known to be 'excellent' or 'high', although his actions has changed dramatically since his IMG times, he his more comfortable in his ship, and doesn't really give much of a damn to anything in the world except the Republic, he has climbed up to the Captain rank quite oddly, as it is hard to find any of his reports, battle or escort on the Colonial Database, not a usual soldier the Republic would have, but what is even more odd is that he was also chosen as the CAG(Commander, Air Group) of the 44th Battlegroup, quite quickly.
+
Colonial Era
There is one thing he stands out at, which is his extreme loyalty to the Republic.
+
Randy had been accepted into the Colonial Military as a fighter pilot and was one of their most well-known pilots among the Taus. Randy "Reaper" Orbit was known as a ruthless fighter-bomber pilot that took everything other than his loyalty and duty to the Republic as a joke. He had ascended the officer ladder quite quickly and interesting as there was next to no personal combat reports or reports of any kind. But in the end had been promoted to Captain and was assigned as the CAG (Commander, Air Group) of the Republic's 44th Battlegroup.

Pilot Personal Traits
+
Be it hardships, treason or any other difficulty Randy had faced, he had served the Republic with extreme loyalty and had faced down and destroyed any opposition he came across and along with a little bit of luck and time, had become one of the Republic best warriors. In his time he had seen multiple changes to the presidency or regulations that with those changes, and had a first-hand experience of the Republic's history unfolding in Sirius. As the CAG of the 44th however, he had only seen a single change in the hierarchy of the vessel he served upon, the Colonial Flagship, Rubicon. In his first years he had served loyally under Admiral Meek and had the utmost respect for him. But with the Admiral retiring, his XO, Terrence Westridge had came into command of the Rubicon. This was a change that had the most impact on Randy's life as an officer. This new Admiral didn't hold back, he was a cold, ruthless machine that calculated everything and in Randy's own opinion, was just a downright hard-ass. Randy couldn't help himself, he loved the man, his only agenda was the safety of the Republic and her citizens and disregarded anything in order to achieve their survival. Randy had soon became the Admiral's right hand and his most trusted officer. Together they had turned the 44th into a monstrous war machine and unlike the previous Admiral Meek, they went on the full offensive, tearing apart entire Outcast capital strike and defense forces without number, Randy had personally witnessed the Golden Age of the 44th Battlegroup.

Randy does not care about money, he doesn't care about what happens to people, he doesn't care to be the best, he doesn't care about life, and he certainly doesn't care about what people think about him. He is the perfect soldier. Takes his orders, and does anything necessary -no matter the cost- to get his job done.
+
Even after the Gallic invasion when the Republic had been forced to go on a full defensive, this new enemy didn't change anything, they were to be destroyed just like anything and anyone else and no matter how impossible of a task that seemed, it didn't matter for Randy, he'd either eliminate every single threat to the Republic or would die trying.

As with all things, the Republic -or at least its administration- had an end. The Republic was fighting a war they were losing and Randy, as well as everyone else, knew it. They were wasting precious resources going on the offensive or on "scout" missions into systems that didn't matter for the Republic. Command had kept on sending orders to do the impossible, to go further into the offensive, a suicidal charge. The Republic's home system had been crushed and taken away, the Republic had only settled in Coronado on Pecos only recently but the orders came down relentlessly from the President, completely disregarding civilian and Republic asset safety. A conspiracy, a murder. The Five Admirals, leaders of the Republic Military had just had had enough, the last straw was drawn. In a simple coup, the Admirals had executed the Mad President and took half of the fleet and simply left.Leaving the Republic on their own, without any real military influence to bring the eventual downfall of the Colonial Republic.

However, the Admirals soon returned, under the name of the Colonial Vanguard.

He also doesn't actually get drunk or high no matter how much he drinks or smokes, reason unknown, possibly in his DNA.

Just like most of the men under his command, Randy too had left with the Admirals, still serving under Admiral Westridge on the Battleship Sovereign, flagship of the Vanguard. Randy was tasked with several assignments, most of them were based around using guerrilla tactics to go on an offensive against the Gallic Armada as well as still combating the Outcasts. The Vanguard fleet had been dispersed all around Sirius in order to gather resources and manpower to make sure the Vanguard kept fighting. Randy at first, just like everyone else had been combating their enemies, but his superiors had need for his skill set elsewhere and he was send to the edge worlds on multiple operations to obtain intelligence and classified materials, much of his operations brought him in close contact with Nomad vessels. At the same time, the Colonial Republic under new leadership had returned to the battlefield.

 +
At this point Randy had been ordered to return to the Taus and was promoted to Commander and served as the CO of VSOC (Vanguard Special Operations Command) on board the Carrier Rubicon. He was placed as XO of the ship which was mostly commanded by an Artificial Intelligence. Randy had changed after his operations in the deep Omicrons, no one really knew why or how, but there was a change. He was at times sarcastic as ever yet sometimes as cold and emotionless as a machine. Randy had participated in Fallen Grace, a failed joint operation where the objective was to assassinate the Gallic King. In his post-combat report, Randy had given a detailed report on his actions within the Royal Palace yet it was noticed that some of the details weren't parallel with the other operatives' own reports. But as Admiral Westridge's most trusted man, the irregularities were dismissed and Randy returned to his post at VSOC.

Today, Commander Randy "Reaper" Orbit still serves under VSOC and is the XO of the Rubicon. With the emerging power of the New Colonial Republic, the Vanguard has dropped into a more defensive and watchful state. Randy is rarely seen throughout the Fleet or even space, he mostly keeps aboard the Rubicon and assigns his men's operations from there. The Rubicon itself operates with a sub-skeleton crew as the whole ship is commanded by an artificial intelligence, which requires very few people in order to operate.

Randy had been known and widely recognized as one of the Republic's best, he didn't care about much and saw most of life as a game. He was an extremely loyal officer to the Colonial Military and carried out his orders to the letter, without hesitation or remorse to his enemies. To him, the ends justified the means, and even if they didn't, he'd follow his orders.

This however, might have changed in recent days, while his loyalty is never in question to the Vanguard, when he is rarely seen, his personality and attitude shifts unnecessarily, which is seen as a psychological breakdown to some higher-ranking Vanguard officers, though none dare take it up with Vanguard Command.

He likes to live in luxury when out of the cockpit, although the cockpit is his true home.

The Vanguard

As with all things, the Republic -or at least its administration- had an end. The Republic was fighting a war they were losing and Randy, as well as everyone else, knew it. They were wasting precious resources going on the offensive or on "scout" missions into systems that didn't matter for the Republic.
