Childhood

Simone was born second child to Heike and Klaus Brunn, a farmer, on Planet Stuttgart. She had one sister, Anna, who was three years older than her. Life was far from comfortable considering that her father could barely earn enough money to pay the rent for a small apartment and keep the whole family fed. However, the family managed to give the girls a chance to get proper education. They both went to the Hamburg Finanzhochschule after they were old enough, aiming for an administrative job in one of the big Rheinland companies. Anna, after successfully acquiring a degree in economics, was taken in by Daumann Heavy Construction. Simone, in the middle of her studies at that time, met her first love, Richard Dorfner.

They were a couple for two years when Simone reached the final year of her studies. Richard, coming from a family with a long military tradition, was off planet with his father, an officer of Rheinland Military, during that time. One day before their planned return they were both accidentally killed in the crossfire during a raid of the Landwirtrechtbewegung on a Synth Foods convoy. Sinking into grief and hatred, Simone decided to temporarily quit her studies and returned home to her family. There she mostly took care of the house for her working parents while mourning Richard. Half a year passed and Simone, slowly recovering from her loss, still showed no intention of continuing her studies. She was scared that going back to the Finanzhochschule would bring back memories of Richard and so she more and more settled into the life she led at home - until one day.

While cleaning the apartment after her parents went off to work she found a datapad in one of her father's drawers. It contained all sorts of information - names, locations, money transfers. But most shocking it contained a note. A note about how things are and how things should be. Propaganda, describing that Stuttgart must return to the hands of its rightful owners. Simone sat down on the bed of her parents, datapad still in hand, and did not move for hours - she just sat there and thought. Her father was the first to return home from work and she immediately confronted him with what she found. He did not deny anything, he just sighed and began to explain. Simone only partially listened to what he had to say - constantly drifting into her own thoughts. Her own father one of those people she hated so much since Richard died? She felt like this was only a bad dream, a soap opera that she was thrown into and once the curtain closes everything would went back to normal. But the curtain did not close. Her father kept walking up and down in front of her, gesturing with his arms, telling her how wrong things are at the moment and that those things must be corrected at all cost. At all cost? She looked up and deep into his eyes. "Listen," he said, "I am sorry about Richard but sadly these things happen, it is an acceptable price compared to our goal." Simone stood up and went to the kitchen, leaving her father where he stood. She reached into the drawer beneath the sink and pulled out a kitchen knife...

The police received a call reporting a murder at 17:00. The unit that was dispatched entered a small apartment on the 18th floor of a big apartment building. Light was falling in from the small windows on the left and casted shadows of the approaching officers on the wall behind them. In the bedroom sat a woman, covered in blood, next to someone lying on the floor. She silently looked up and stretched her hands to the officers, gesturing for handcuffs.
