The RM-2A is a recent development to replace the aging RM-1 Destroyer in service with the Maltese Navy for almost 300 years. Although it has higher mass and increased profile, it is also more maneuverable than its predecessor, sports a more lethal armament, and marginally heavier armor. The first prototypes were powered by conventional fusion drives, but the production models incorporate a new advance courtesy of the researchers at Corsica's R and D Lab: An Artificial Quantum Singularity Drive. Producing a very low and unfamiliar energy signature, it lowers the Destroyer's scanner profile considerably. The craft is less heavily produced than the old RM-1, and is not normally sold to other unlawfuls. Hackers and Phantoms have been sold models with a conventional fusion drive, but no others of this model have left Outcast control.
Handling
- This ship is too large to use docking bays, it must use mooring points.

The Storta destroyer is my favorite ship of all Outcast ships. The design, shape and effectiveness of the craft make for a winning combination. However, it has some major flaws that should make you consider, or perhaps reconsider, buying it. First of all, the underside of the ship is completely "undefended", so whatever ship with enough firepower to take down your shield, can easily kill you if you cannot get them "out" of your blindspot. Only 2 Cruiser light/medium turrets cover the belly. Hold on, this ain't the only downside to it. The three heavy turrets are placed about mid-ship. Which isn't that bad, well, think again. With only 2/3 turrets firing backwards at upwards angles only, one can easily say that this ship isn't meant for "kiting". The 1.8m core makes efficient usage of Light Mortar Kiting short of impossible. The best turrets you can use with the Storta is 3x Cruiser Cerberus and 9x Outcast Cruiser Primaries (if anti cap) or 3x Cruiser Cerberus and 9x Outcast Destroyer Turrets (anti snub/cap hybrid). The ship's shape does make it quite easy to use, but the ship is hopelessly sluggish for its size and firepower non-the-less. I would strongly advice you to stay away from smaller and or faster cruisers, as these will easily be able to keep themselves outside of your forward oriented power. After the turret split, introduced in 4.86, this ship has become increasingly harder to use against battleships. I strongly advice you to train yourself rigorously in the art of turretsteering if you want to have any chance of beating a Battlecruiser or larger. Remember, use the shape, it is your most "powerful weapon".Error creating thumbnail: Unable to save thumbnail to destination Review by Prysin |

The Storta is a very good destroyer. It's flat, providing for good vertical strafing, and handles really well. The hull is great for a ship as hard to hit as it can be when flown properly. All 12 of its turrets fire forwards. It fires 6 normal cruiser turrets and 2 heavy turrets around the sides and back. Above, it fires 7 cruiser turrets and all three heavies. Below, it fires no heavies, and only 1-2 cruiser turrets in most directions. Don't let people get at your belly. If you really want to be silly, you can use rolls to turn your ship sidways, making it look like a big thresher. However, you'd have to make sure you kept your "top" side facing the enemy, and your "bottom" side away from them.Error creating thumbnail: Unable to save thumbnail to destination Review by TLI-Inferno |
