Calais is a top secret research facility. Details of its operation are classified. It was built in 516 AGS and was renovated several times in order to improve existing equipment and attach new laboratories. Calais is located in a remote area of empty space that no ship can reach undetected. Its position below the orbital plane of the system allows Calais' researchers to perform weaponry tests and experiments on a large scale without threatening populated areas of space. These are the few facts about Calais that the Gallic government is willing to reveal. Various rumors circulate around the research facility, its inhabitants and their research. Some consider Calais to be the place where peculiar alien artifacts found in Guyenne and elsewhere in Gallia are being disassembled and studied. Other argue that the majority of its research is really dedicated to weaponry research, and that hazardous biological and antimatter weaponry is being prepared within the confines of Calais for the conquest of Sirius.
