Just like a number of other similar bases, it suffers from overpopulation and excess police attention that doesn't allow local entrepeneurs to operate freely in space. Not many official records of its former operations exist, although it is known that it was involved in supplying Normandie rebels during the First Gallic War, and became a site of notorious events around 520 AGS when several Royal Navy officers were tried and found guilty for treason after trading important military intelligence to the other side with Corse serving as mediators. The officers were sentenced to life imprisonment and spent the rest of their days in a desolate prison located on Planet Mayenne.

Epernon Base also serves the Corse as the main distribution hub for hypnotainment bands. Since, apparently, hypno bands are exclusively produced from Solar Engineering holotainment bands that have had their security and safety algorithms hacked, rather than being directly manufactured by the Corse, their 'production' does not require an extensive manufacturing capability, but can be produced by skilled Corse hackers working in relatively small quarters. While this also ought to allow the Corse to relocate their production operation between stations with ease, or even conduct them aboard transports or possibly even freighters, the physical distribution network for hypnotainment bands remains centered at Epernon for unknown reasons. This has led to numerous attempts by Solar Engineering to locate and infiltrate the Corse' hypnotainment production operation, since it threatens the safe reputation and profits of their holotainment product line, but so far the Corse claim that these efforts have all been thwarted without the Gallic authorities or Solar learning the location of the facility.

Solar has initiated political maneuvers designed to pressure the Gallic Royal Navy to conduct extensive interdiction in the Orleans system, where it knows that hypnotainment band distribution is based, but so far these political methods have failed to result in significant Naval action that threatens Epernon, and the Corse remain confident of the security of the base. Corse claim that their hidden influence in the government protects them, but some suspect that GMS or EFL do not desire the authorities to make too much progress in efforts to combat hypnotainment band traffiking, since it somewhat discredits Solar's safety claims and disrupts the company's financial security.
