In many ways similar to Montpellier Station in Languedoc, Luneville was built to maintain and secure the mines that surround jump hole leading into the dangerous Outcast space. Only by pure luck the Outcasts didn't discover this path before massive mine fields were set up. Ancient mine fields of unknown, presumably alien origin are encountered in some places of Sirius, so the Outcasts did not show much interest to the field itself. Main threat, ironically, came from the inside - the Council started a war in order to breach the fields and reveal existence of Gallia to the rest of Sirius. Luneville's defenders face constant threat of Council and Maquis attacks that has become more frequent in the recent two years, when the High Command was preparing a bold offensive against Languedoc mine field. In Lorraine, however, the Gallic Navy is way too strong to act openly, and Council leaders have chosen another tactic to create a path between the mines...

In many ways similar to Montpellier Station in Languedoc, Luneville was built to maintain and secure the mines that surround jump hole leading into the dangerous Outcast space. By the time the Outcasts themselves arrived, the mine field was already in place. Having no means to penetrate it, the Outcasts simply avoided the area, establishing a small base themselves to keep watch over it.

The minefield was breached eventually, in 816 A.S., in a surprise attack by Council forces out of Lorraine. Their method was as crude as it was effective: A large engine salvaged from a derelict Navy cruiser was grafted onto a dense asteroid in the Sarre nebula, and while Council and Maquis raiders distracted the bulk of the GRN forces with a diversionary attack on Metz, this asteroid was sent straight into the center of the minefield, where the jumphole presumably would be. If enough of the asteroid survived, it would then jump to the other side and continue on it's path.

This unconventional attack succeeded, creating a wide path through the mines all the way into Omicron-80. Cut off from the rest of Gallia, the Luneville defenders have been unable to restore the minefield.
