Soissons Mining Facility was built in 541 AGS by Gallic Metal Service. It occupies a position far below the orbital plane in a desolate ice asteroid field known as Retz Field. The field is one of the few sources of hydrocarbons found in Gallia. Retz was one of the most efficient mining operations in Gallic space, with literally no valued substance left behind in mined-out asteroids. Nowadays the mining still continues, although the field is nearing its depletion. Soissons is an old station that went through little reconstruction during recent years. Housing is rather uncomfortable, and GMS took measures to relocate its workers to better-equipped facilities, replacing them with mechanized labour.
