The Coalition - a name that conjures up anger, fear, and the long forgotten history of the [[War of Sol]] - a war that the Coalition had won. For decades, millions of people died in a terrible conflict based on animosities from ages past, the final war between communism and capitalism. The Coalition was formed from the countries of Eastern Europe, Russia, China and the Middle East. Their numbers were greater than the forces of the [[Alliance]], but their military technological expertise was slightly lower.

In the present day, none of the Alliance historians know the beginning date of the [[War of Sol]] - ironically their "never forgetting" memories erased the remembrance, that probably they were the ones who fired the first rockets at the Eastern Bloc in the middle 1950's. The war had begun, and the technological race between the two blocs drove them to conquer space and harvest it's resources. The Coalition were the first ones in space - their colonies on the Moon were constructed earlier than the Alliance's on Mars. This defense seemed hopeless through many years and consumed most of the Coalition resources, allowing the Alliance to set up new colonies on the moons of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto - colonies that were not free from Coalition partisan activity however. Meanwhile, the Coalition broke through the siege of Moon, and while their numbers were depleted and many brethren were lost, they recycled the Alliance weapons left on the battlefield, and by studying their enemy's technology, they eventually gained the upper hand in the war. With the numbers of the freshly born soldiers of the Chinese Empire, they enhanced their army and began a siege of Mars.

In 2160, the Alliance signed a proposed a peace treaty between the two blocs, but as the Coalition admiral headed to Europa, one of Jupiter's moons, to sign it, he ordered a Coalition fleet to de-cloak and attack the Alliance fleet, who had stood down from battle after hearing about the treaty. Instead of ending the war peacefully, they destroyed the French and Italian Alliance fleets and took control of all the inner planets, including Earth. This surprise attack was what gave the Coalition the upper hand to start winning the war.

The rest of the story is known by all historians in Sirius space - after a hundred years the Coalition assault on Mars finally suceeded, and their forces began a push towards Jupiter. In that time the Alliance activated their last chance play: an array of sleeper ships designed to take the Alliance remnants far away from the Solar System. The sleeper ships broke the Coalition blockade, three of them lost and one heavily damaged during the onslaught.

As the two prepared for one last battle, a Nomad superweapon arrived and destroyed the Sol System and destroyed all traces of humanity. Instead of seeking peace like the Alliance, they continued to fight, which caused the [[Nomads]], who had been watching humanity, to judge them as unworthy to live.

In 2160, the Alliance signed a proposed a peace treaty between the two blocs, but as the Coalition admiral headed to Europa, one of Jupiter's moons, to sign it, he ordered a Coalition fleet to de-cloak and attack the Alliance fleet, who had stood down from battle after hearing about the treaty. Instead of ending the war peacefully, they destroyed the French and Italian Alliance fleets and took control of all the inner planets, including Earth.
