Background

Early Life

Ezreal Matsumoto was born on Planet New Tokyo in the year 780 A.S.. His father, Admiral Hatori Matsumoto, was a renowned fighter pilot in the Kusari Naval Forces. Ezreal's mother, Akira Matsumoto, owned and operated an unpopular bakery. Ezreal's father mysteriously disappeared while on assignment in the Kepler system around 784 A.S.. Ezreal was four years old.

After the loss of his father, Ezreal was adopted by a close family friend, Boss Tanaka. Boss Tanaka was the leader of a large criminal syndicate in Kusari. He raised Ezreal to become a soldier in his rankings, and taught him the ancient ways of the samurai. This was the preferred fighting style of the Tanaka Gang.

Ezreal quickly picked up the art of the blade, and was a fierce soldier in Tanaka's army. Due to his small size, he could easily kill a target by methods of stealth, and was the go to grease man in New Tokyo by the age of nine. Word spread quickly of Ezreal's skill, and even the Kusari Government took notice of the talents he possessed. In late 790 A.S., Ezreal was kidnapped by a covert branch of the Kusari military.

Military Career

The Kusari Naval Forces "recruited" Ezreal due to his superior skills in the art of death. Although he had no aviation training, the navy knew he would pick it up as well as his father did. Ezreal was chosen, along with a handful of Navy officers to participate in an experimental project including training programs and surgeries in an effort to make the "perfect soldier". The soldiers were told that not all would survive.

Cybernetic Experimentation

The first phase of Ezreal's training was being strapped to a medical bed and drugged into a coma. An extreme concentration of nanomachines were injected into his cerebral cortex, which enhanced Ezreal's aggressive nature and taught him basic piloting. Ezreal's head was severed from his body and installed onto a cyborg exoskeleton. This body had no human organs, and in place of a heart was a carbonate fuel cell that meticulously pumped biotic nano-repair paste throughout Ezreal's body, codenamed "white blood". White blood enhanced Ezreal's reflexes, strength, and damage regeneration. His optical nerves and retina were damaged in the process of dailyzing the new white blood, and were replaced with compound image sensor prosthetics.

After Ezreal's training and surgery, he was assigned to an unnamed black ops branch of the navy. His primary function as an operative was to gather intelligence on high profile Outcasts. Any dangers to the Kusari way of life were to be eliminated via assassination. Ezreal was not listed under any government databases and could not be linked to any governing bodies if caught in action. He worked alone and behind enemy lines.

Present Day

Cryer Pharmaceuticals

Somewhere along his career, Ezreal found himself chasing an Outcast bomber across Sigma-19. He toyed with the Outcast for a few minutes before destroying the bulky vessel. Ezreal performed a routine search of the ship remains when an unidentified transport pulled up on his six. A comms channel was requested, and they began to converse.

It is not known exactly what the transport pilot said to Ezreal, but somewhere in the conversation he convinced the bloodthirsty soldier to bring his talents to a well paying corporation in Cryer Pharmaceuticals. After a brief history lesson concerning their deep hatred for the Maltese, Ezreal jumped the wagon and flew to Atka Research Station to begin his new career.
