Located Deep in the Somme asteroid feild, Fort Etaples was built in 552 AGS as a base of operations for the Gallic Royal Police and Navy in Picardy. The station is responsible for the security of the nearby Calais Research Facility, and routinely scans all traffic to and from the base.
Fort Etaples is notorious for its aging systems, many of which haven't been upgraded since the station was put into service. Breakdowns are frequent, and there are rumors that some Navy pilots are sleeping in their ships, mistrustful of the station's lifesupport system. The station was scheduled to receive an overhaul in 715 A.G.S., but the Marne Rebellion diverted the resources needed for it away.
Nowadays, Etaples maintains its original role. New administration and the end of the war have lead many to believe that the station would finally undergo a complete refit, and some minor replacements have already been carried out. Due to more urgent rebuilding priorities in Picardy, it will be some time before the massive upgrade works start, and it will be longer still for Etaples to lose its unreliable, hazardous reputation to the superstitious soldiery.
