An iconic warship that dominated battlefronts in the First Gallic War. The Obstinate is the definitive answer to small scale battles, when the enemy is able to field warships. With a relatively small frame, anti-warship arsenal, and swift agility - The Obstinate stands gracefully as a worthy adversary
Handling
- This ship is too large to use docking bays, it must use mooring points.

The Obstinate is a fine piece of engineering for sure. She comfortably falls into the “Heavy Cruiser” class and has some of the best armor and power output in the cruiser family, and she looks good (though she is a bit of a pig in terms of maneuverability). Her shape is pretty good for combat as well, essentially a shoebox, small front, narrow sides, big from the top and bottom with most of her weapons on the top. The Obstinate can actually fire all her weapons forward, which is just fantastic for first strikes, not all cruisers can match the firepower of all 12 guns firing at once. The heavy guns on the Obstinate are all located on her ‘head’, two on the top and two on the bottom with each of them being able to cover about 180 degrees port or starboard (it does seem that the these guns hiccup at times and do not point where you want them to). The primary guns are located all along the hull, and the ones on the two front fins are the only ones that cannot fire backwards, and the ones on her bottom spine are the only ones that can fire down. That is the biggest weakness of this ship, the inability to fire more than 2 light and 2 heavy guns down, other than that her coverage is actually pretty good. Personally I have two pulse guns located on her spine, the rest are GRN turrets loading out her light mounts… I have a missile and light trebuchet for engaging heavier ships and a couple of Cerberus guns for general engagement. The double pulses are not bad against shields and will not impact your energy too much, and the Cerberus guns can be exchanged for Glaives if you are fighting a lot of gunboats with this thing. This ship’s only match ups come from bombers (which cruiser guns are too slow to hit) and battleships. Count on fighter cover and the occasional Glaive blast to deal with the bombers, and just keep the battleships at range and pound them with pulses, missiles, and Trebuchets. You should be able to bum rush any gunboats or lighter cruisers in an Obstinate, just get as close as you can and open fire and they will not last long. Your main opponent will likely be Bretonian destroyers, which come close to you armor and power wise, but your Obstinate will have more guns, a smaller head on profile, and better firing arcs, so long as they do not get below you and you know what you are doing you will be okay. Lastly this thing almost never fits into trade lanes and the autopilot can only dock with them one out of maybe ten times. The Obstinate is a very heavy cruiser, but not too armored. Supporting 8 light cruiser turrets and 4 heavy, it is the most hard hitting cruiser, BUT this is all that you've got. First problem of the obstinate are it's guns arcs. While the 2 heavy cruisers above the head heave an arc of 270 degree, don't try to fire them in close range of the target. They'll always miss due to their placing. Another big disadavantage is the HUGE size of the Obstinate. Being much bigger than the Bretonia Destroyer and having a brick like form, you will find this ship hopeless at easy killing Battleships. You will get hit most of the time, even when facing the thinnest part of the ship to the enemy. Another bad thing about it is that if you want to stand a chance against lighter cruisers that can easly dodge fire, for example the Hatchet or the Bretonian Destroyer, you have to use gallic cruiser turrets that are slower than standard ones and have an annoying projectile. Because of this, you'll stand no chance against bombers. Against other cruisers, try getting as close as possible to them, while not giving a change to damage you badly. Obstinate is very easy to hit, so only brutal force will be your friend. Even with that, you will not stand a chance against a Bretonia Destroyer with a decent captain, which, for 20k less hull, has a very small and wired hitbox that allows it to dodge properly. In conclusion, the Obstiante is not meant to be a solo operator. The heavy power of it can change the end of a fight, but when you are targeted, you're an easy pray to the enemy and heavy battleship cover is required ASAP.
