One of the Navy’s most closely guarded secrets, Radford Research Station is a clandestine research facility, built exclusively for Liberty Navy usage in the seclusion of the radar-dampening Newport Anomaly. The station houses numerous research projects for the Navy and the Government, although what these projects entail is little more than a mystery at this point.
Much like Radford’s (former) sister installations, Benford and Ithaca, the station’s primary research directive is probably that of alternative energy sources and Jump technology. Radford houses a large “Baxter Anomaly” in an enclosure on the ventral end of the station, and a large portion of the station’s science teams are likely devoted to the research and investigation of this anomaly. The station is also seemingly charged with the reverse engineering and research of enemy vessels, given the battle-damaged hulls of Rheinland Military vessels resting in the station’s drydocks.
Regardless, the one certainty surrounding Radford Research Station is that its secrets are well-guarded, insofar that the entirety of the Newport Anomaly is an off-limits zone, and any unauthorized vessel flying near the Anomaly may be fired upon without warning.
