The Rising Sun was captured by the Samarran Raiders in the Kyushu star system, while it traveled to Planet Kyushu from New Tokyo. The crew and passengers were enslaved and later sold as workers on the Maltese cardamine fields, when the vessel safely arrived on Planet Malta. Meanwhile, The Golden Sheik which served as a home for the Raiders was decommissioned and because of its age, the Rising Sun will replace it and serve as a new home for the Raiders.
The Rising Sun can generally be found near Planet Carinea, close to the Nomads, which are actively worshiped by the Raiders' own cult.
