Two words may be used to describe Tigraine Mantear. The Manipulator. She joined The Order shortly after the Nomad war, and has been serving in a behind-the-scenes capacity ever since. While The Order increasingly became more of a military unit, she kept the basic ideals that had helped them win the Nomad war.

Origins

Tigraine Mantear was born on 16th October, in the rainy suburbs of New London. Her parents were distant relatives of the Queen, and as such, Mantear is minor Loyalty in Bretonia, should she ever choose to exercise that right again.

Her childhood was as pampered as one could expect, but with the trappings of Nobility came a very sharp ear for the eddies and tides of political change, and the interwoven webs of intrigue that surrounded the Bretonian Government. As she grew up, she became increasingly distant and aloof, her only passions being excellence and integrity of character. Attempts to get Mantear settled with another Noble house fell flat on it's face, and as a result she remained unmarried.

Revelations

Mantear's life changed when the fate of Sirius hung in the balance. The Nomad war, 800-801 AS left Bretonia relatively untouched, but the clouds of gloom hung heavy as it mobilized for a defense against Kusari and Rheinland. The very sudden resolution of the conflict, and the exposure of The Order as saviors, intrigued her. The Order was well-hidden at the time however, and it took her nearly a year to find a lead. There was only one path from there. Casting off the trappings of her old life and proceeding with the new.

Initial service in the Order

There was several troubles for Mantear. She had no prior military training. She was not exactly young at the time. The answer presented itself in the form of the Order Covert ops. Tigraine's well-honed ear for politics and intrigue would make sure she excelled in the field, leading small ops and making necessary arrangements almost at will. The Order had found a useful resource, and Mantear continued to work, even as The nomads resurfaced.

Admission into the primary fleet

With the formation of the Blacksquadron as the main body of the Order paramilitary, Tigraine was called back from Liberty. She was given an operative role in the Blacksquadron's covert ops, which were closer to Toledo, now that the wild Omicrons were finally being opened by the tendrils of trade, commerce and exploration. There was a lot to do, and Tigraine picked up various skills like commanding larger ops, and some of the first capital ships that The Order was producing with Corsair collaboration. It made for a formidable skill-set.

Service in the primary fleet

Not much is known about Tigraine's acts in the Primary Fleet. She always preferred to stay behind the curtain, and manipulate activities from there. With Mantear now taking open part in Order machinations however, this list will grow. She is rumored to have been campaigning for a more streamlined Order, but as always, no concrete proof is known.

Character

Mantear is a cold, distant and calculating woman. She is a firm advocate of 'ends being justified by the means', and that has put her in direct opposition to some of the more humanitarian elements in The Order. Her patience is vast, though, willing to wait months and years for something to click.
