Your recent edits to the commodity pages

Hi; I'm unsure exactly what you're trying to do here. We already have standards for commodity pages - including a default template, Template:Commodity, which was already on all the updated pages (i.e. all of them). Please stop adding your own style to all the pages, it is like that for a reason, and removing the templates and doing it all by hand makes it incredibly difficult to maintain the page as you have to edit every single one of them if you want to make a small change. If you've got any major changes you want to implement, please contact me on my talk page or on Skype.

I will probably be replacing your commodity page edits with generated content soon, as they do not comply with our standards for commodity pages. Do also please stop adding your own "signatures"/advertisements to the pages you edit, as they are another thing that I will have to clean up. We do not allow for those, which is the reason for why you do not see anybody else leaving signatures like that on any other Wiki pages; they make the page look rather unprofessional, and do thus not belong here, unfortunately. - Space (talk) 02:29, 4 July 2015 (CEST)

Do please also not split the commodity table into separate tables, as this makes it impossible to sort and compare commodities any more. Leave a note on the talk page to suggest major changes like that before implementing them, please. - Space (talk) 02:32, 4 July 2015 (CEST)
Sorry for this wall of complaints, I do not intend to come across as disapproving of your efforts, it's just that they are a bit misguided and the fact that I didn't notice most of them before now. The current Discovery version is also not v4.88.0.0, so "updating" commodity pages that were up-to-date for v4.88.0.2 (!) already down to v4.88.0.0 is obviously not such a good idea. - Space (talk) 02:36, 4 July 2015 (CEST)
Short version: We've already got year-old standards and templates in place for the things that you are trying to do; please don't attempt to change those overnight without suggesting it on the appropriate talk page first, as those standards and guidelines are usually in place for a reason. - Space (talk) 02:38, 4 July 2015 (CEST)
Another thing: Using <br> and other kinds of HTML markup in wikitext is usually not recommended, as it may be difficult to understand for other editors. The editor usually has built-in "replacements" for most HTML markup. One example is that adding a new line in the editor will work in exactly the same way as a <br> does, so using the <br> tag is therefore not required, and inline HTML comments should ideally not be needed at all. - Space (talk) 02:43, 4 July 2015 (CEST)
Ah, sorry, I get what you were trying to do with the commodity pages now; the code generator does indeed not output information using Template:Commodity right now! I see. Well, I'll work on getting that up and running so we can rely on the code generator for that as well instead of you having to fix it manually. Do please take a look at Template:Commodity, though! Sorry for the wall of text, and many thanks for your effort! - Space (talk) 02:56, 4 July 2015 (CEST)

They are sortable, I revised that in a later edit, my apologies. I shouldn't have done that at two in the night, as it came out far more crass and frustrated than I intended at the start. You have a point in arranging them like you did now that I see where you are coming from; I'll consider if there is an alternate solution to the issue of finding commodities. A Javascript search box, perhaps. As for why somebody would compare them: I was about to say that one may want to check which items are contraband where, but that's what the contraband table is for, so again: You've got a point, so my apologies for "cleaning it up" (or so I thought) in the middle of the night without waiting for your reply.

And regarding the version numbers: The code generator unfortunately does that, and I can't fix it myself, as I do not have direct access to the code generator installation. The V4.88.0.2 I mentioned was in reference to the version number that was on the commodity pages before your edits; adding v4.88.0.0 makes them seem older than they actually are when the data on them is up-to-date for the current Discovery mod version. And I'll work on getting the code generator to spit out things using Template:Commodity as soon as possible to simplify things, as it was never my intention to remove the old infobox containing commodity images and decay information; it's just that the code generator doesn't output content in that format, and another editor started updating them using the code generator so we stuck with that for the first batch of commodity page updates for v4.88.

PS: Would you happen to have Skype? I'll be available at space.error as well if anything else comes up; should help prevent misunderstandings like this from my end too. Reminds me that I need to get that Skype Wiki editor's chat up and running. :) - Space (talk) 16:35, 4 July 2015 (CEST)
