The Tayport Extension was constructed by the Mollys of Mull Base at first to facilitate the storage of stolen goods acquired from the convoys passing through Newcastle. However, over time as the Molly Raiders became more successful in their acquisition of goods, the Crown demanded the Armed Forces take action. This led to convoys being more heavily guarded, which made it more difficult for the Mollys to make successful raids against Bretonia's Corporations.

Rather than waste the numerous storage facilities, associated hanger bays and office space, the Mollys reached out to their allies in the Coalition with a deal. The Coalition would aid in Mull's defense and increased shipments of war materials in exchange for administration of the extension. This allowed the Coalition's forces to extend their reach deeper into Bretonia as well as the nearby war-torn Taus and closer access to Libertonian systems.
