Formerly located elsewhere within Rheinland, the Merzig Depot was a biodome-equipped station administered by the LWB in the core of their territory. As a returning and veteran Rheinland Military was retasked to quell and suppress internal unrest, the Farmers found themselves hounded by both Federal enforcers and Bounty Hunters who found them a less challenging foe than other criminal groups scattered through Rheinland. Unlike them, the LWB were comparatively unsubtle and predictable in their targets, and as a result they became a far lesser threat to the Federal Regime than their cousins.
A godsend for the rebelling farmers came when the Coalition gave them an unprecedented opportunity; a massive amount of funding and materiel in exchange for the band's mastery of arability and land reclamation. The entire Merzig Depot was disassembled and towed; component-by-component across the war-torn Omegas with heavy Coalition and Hessian escort, to its present location.
As the farthest flung of all of its bastions, the slow death of the LWB has had a marked effect on Merzig. Careful deliberations and assessments have led the crew of the station, not wishing to be assimilated into the Coalition and soon to be lacking the support of the LWB by large, to pledge itself to the Red Hessian's. The addition of Merzig to the ranks of the Hessians has led to renewed diplomatic entreaties between the Hessians and the Coalition, even as the former LWB crew continues their work on Jiangxi under a new flag.
