Omega-41 System

Omega-41 system is an edge world system located at the lower section of Sirius Space. A long time before human arrival in the system, the star at Omega-41's core went Supernova, and collapsed into a Neutron Star (a hyperdense, extremely radioactive remnant). The Supernova would have destroyed any planets within the system, reducing them to the now visible planetary debris field. The high level of harmful particles emitted by the Neutron Star renders the system inhospitable to passers by, and only those with reasons to remain will linger in this shattered system.

The system has no commercial activities, and is not under the influence of any military or police forces. The Zoners founded Freeport 5 in the system, and more recently, with the war between the Corsairs and the Hessians raging on, the Corsairs have claimed the system with their new Leon base and are using the volatile system to stage attacks on Hessian holdings throughout the Omega Systems. There are jumpholes to six different systems.

The system is plagued by unlawfuls, as there is no police authorities, and because it is one of the fronts of the Corsair-Hessian war, only the most skilled pilots in the best ships are fielded there. As with most of the border and edge worlds, the system has no trade lanes, forcing pilots to fly long periods between jump holes in intense radiation.

Due to the large number of jumpholes in the system, and linking the Omega sector to Omicron space, Omega-41 acts as one of the most important crossroads in the Edge Worlds. At some point during 817 A.S. the Neutron Star at the centre of the Omega-41 system entered a newly unstable phase and began emitting pulses of visible-wavelength radiation. Though no cataclysm has occcured thus far, inhabitants of the system are very concerned about the possible threat destabilisation of the celestial body could cause.
