Saint-Flour is a modern mining facility built in 648 AGS by Gallic Metal Service. The facility is equipped with everything necessary to mine and process Cobalt ore from the nearby Allier Asteroid Field. Mining of the field was very intensive since planet side deposits of Cobalt in Gallia are scarce and expensive to extract. Two trade lanes were built to Saint-Flour from Montlucon and Clermont, serving not only to transport Cobalt from the facility and Mining Machinery to it, but also as a means of quick communication for workers to get to the station from the space colonies. During the last two decades, the ore deposits within Alliers were largely depleted, and production of Cobalt significantly decreased. Yet, mining in the remote areas of the field continues, with miner ships protected by numerous Police and Navy patrols to fend off frequent pirate raids.
