Desperate times call for desperate measures, in this case desperate designs. The Hammerhead is the result of years of work by the Bounty Hunters Guild to improve upon the traditional AP line. Its armor and power ratings have been elevated to peak levels to deliver a greater advantage to Bounty Hunters in the field.
Handling
Despite this ships classification as Very Heavy Fighter it belongs more in line with Heavy Fighters, being reasonably manueverable, small and with limited damage capability whilst still possessing a torpedo slot capable of supporting a Mini Razor (among other torpedo sized weapons). Like other Heavy Fighters it's main drawback is slow energy regeneration. A standard loadout of Buckshots will deplete it's energy after just a couple of shots, and force it's pilot to dodge while he waits for it to regenerate. Aim is therefore especially important.
The Hammerhead (like other Bounty Hunter ships) is noted for a very specific vertical shape. Horizontal strafing allows it to evade incoming gunfire very smoothly.
