A modern Kusari Battleship of the latest Bakumatsu-class design, the Sado has been deployed to the Tohoku system along with a small escort fleet to investigate suspicious activity around Heaven's Gate. Contact with the base has been sporadic since the Nomad Wars, and most inspections have not turned up anything unusual, but of late increased Blood Dragon activity in the system have led the Kusari Navy to bring in reinforcements to surpress this activity. The implications of the Blood Dragons capturing a base as formidable and culturally important as Heaven's Gate would be a disaster for the fledgeling Kusari government, both from a military as a public relations standpoint.
