These debris fields present both a navigational hazard and a potential second-stage resource, so a small cottage industry has sprung up among those who collect scrap metal and resell it at smelting plants.
Scrap metal is a commodity made up of the leftover pieces of broken equipment and ships. The Junkers trade heavily in it, and it is often used by shipyards to be converted into more useful materials, such as Engine Components or Ship Hull Panels.
Notable fields can be found in New York, New London, Sigma-13, and Omega-15.
