The 1st Special Activities Division "Delta", the main paramilitary wing of the Liberty Security Force, is the result of the fusion of the Liberty Army's prime SOF unit, the 1st SFOD-D, and the LSF's Special Operations Group.

Only the most promising candidates are given the opportunity to opt in for the extensive training course on a secret LSF station called "The Farm" which will turn these men and women into one of the most dangerous forces Sirius has ever seen. Utilizing highly advanced augmentation procedures, nanite technology and bioengineering, the bodies of these agents-to-be are turned into a weapon more dangerous than any rifle, and their minds and wits are shaped to fulfill tasks far beyond normal human capabilities. When they complete their training course and augmentation program, the clandestine officers of the 1st (colloquially known as "spies") are ready for rapid short-notice deployment all over the Sirius Sector and capable of performing even the most difficult missions.

The LSF's SAD has access to both the standard combat gear of almost every faction of Sirius and to some of the most advanced technology created in Liberty's own research bunkers. Personal cloaking devices, rifles firing (universally outlawed, but still used) nanotoxin rounds, portable shield generators, both light and heavy powered exoskeletons, super heavy, space-capable assault walkers - you name it, they have it. This awe-inspiring technology level can only be maintained unofficially though due to laws restricting the militarization of or completely outlaw certain technologies which are part of treaties signed by all 4 houses. SAD operators thus are usually denied to be anyhow affiliated to Liberty and are not protected by PoW laws.

Organization

After the 1st's integration into the Liberty Security Force, it's tight military chain of command was dropped in favor of a simpler 3-tier-system in order to allow operators a higher degree of flexibility:

Tier 1 operators are support personnel, civilian and military liaisons and "moles". They are not formally recognized as LSF agents or government contractors, but make up the primary pool of possible Tier 2 recruits.

Tier 2 operators are fully trained, highly specialized clandestine agents (colloquially known as "spies"). They typically operate alone or in small teams, where leadership roles are assigned based on operator specialty and mission requirements.

Tier 3 operators make up the majority of the administrative staff tasked with strategic planning. They are rarely deployed on field missions, but if the experience and expertize of a senior operator is required, they are more than capable of fulfilling these needs.

Above these three tiers is a single person of unknown identity titled "the Controller". He (or she - the Controller's voice is masked by a vocoder) is in charge of the unit, and is only obliged to respond to the President himself.

Ships used

Depending on whether the assignment 1st operators are sent on requires a cover identity or not, they will either use Liberty military space ships with no designations and serial numbers or ships fitting their chosen NOC. These are the ships Delta uses on "open" assignments and their usual role in the division:

The LCAS Ft. Louisbourg

The 1st operates a single capital-class sized vessel - the LCAS Ft. Louisbourg, a highly advanced, one-of-a-kind stealth cruiser based on the shells of the Ticonderoga- and Freedom-ship classes. Commandeered by Tier 3 agent Jimmy Patterson, the Ft. Louisbourg's primary duties are SIGINT operations, electronic warfare and acting as a mobile Forward Operations Base, although it also is equipped for heavy planetary assault. Other high-tech equipment includes a low-emission ion drive, high-velocity launch tubes, an active camouflage system that can change the hull's color to everything from camouflage to standard matte black in a matter of minutes and a cloaking device. The ship also carries a small Liberty Army Marine Corps Force Recon battalion to fend off and to conduct boarding operations; exact crew numbers vary per mission however and are usually classified.

Recruitment

Currently, the 1st is recruiting, and is actively seeking motivated players fulfilling the following requirements:

  • You are able to maintain above-than-average roleplaying skills in any situation.
  • You are a good teamplayer with a sense of fair play.
  • You are willing to learn our faction lore and terminology.
  • You know and obey the server rules.
  • And, most importantly - you have some common sense, a rare, but most precious commodity in this community.

What does not matter to us:

  • Your flying skills. You will learn as you go.

Forum RP, while encouraged, is not necessary beyond writing a short biography of your character. Being a good novelist does not imply being a good actor and vice versa - we judge people on their ingame RP, not on their forum RP.
