Battleship Montmorency was deployed to the Lanquedoc system to cover the rear of the Gallic Royal Navy's advance from Gallia into Orkney and the Tau systems. The Royal Navy views Lanquedoc as largely pacified after the retreat of the Council from the system. The battleship's fighter wings conduct patrols of the system's trade lanes, inspects ships attempting to enter Dauphine, and the ship itself often conducts live fire drills on stray asteroids, to remind anyone watching that the Royal Navy is present in force.
