The Oubli had been held in reserve by the Gallic Royal Navy, to give their forces the ability to rapidly deploy reinforcements if their advance was threatened by an unforeseen event. The intentional ramming of the GRN Villeneuve by HMS Derby, and the resulting loss of both ships, was one such event. Oubli was forced to take over the role of the Villeneuve, which was to support the ground forces by maintaining control of the Leeds orbit and docking ring, and providing fire support for the ground forces with orbital bombardments. As energy based cannons cannot penetrate the atmosphere, Oubli had to use special torpedoes to attack targets on the surface. In 822 A.S., a large fleet of combined Liberty and Bretonia forces attacked the Oubli. The warship fell, but not before destroying a large amount of enemy ships first.
