Positioned on the edge of the Schutznebel, Kassel is a base in charge of defending the northern part of the Omega-54 system. It's extensive platform ring, as well as a large garrison of defense fighters help keep stragglers out of the Odenwald.
The base itself was constructed in four months from raw materials mined in Omega-54 itself, after the discovery of the Omega-11 jump hole hidden within the nebula in 766 A.S. The base itself is regarded as a pinnacle of Hessian engineering, with it's heavy armour created out of advanced alloys made from the myriad of metals found in the Odenwald - in case a Corsair fleet ever made it's way into the system. In reality however it is questioned whether the Corsairs are at all aware of the Omega-54 jump hole in Omega-11, and the Red Hessians are keen to keep it that way.
