Synopsis

The Mandalorians continue the proud tradition of their Warrior blood-line. They have traveled far from their home planet of Mandalore. They are shrewd negotiators, and are known for their excellence in piloting and their acceptance of any willing warrior.

History

The Mandalorians Story

The Mandalorians do not speak to others of the Exodus. It was a dark time. But arriving in Bretonia, the Mandalorians won the favor of the Queen and were allowed to make their home there. Soon after arriving, a former Bretonian Military officer, John Cabot, was made Mandalore, cementing the bond with their adopted land. Assistance against the Kusari was very welcome, and was a specific priority of the new Mandalore, who had known much personal loss at the hands of the Kusari.

Soon after their settlement in Bretonia word spread about these strangers who could do battle with such cold competence. It was not long until the stories about them reached to the outer regions of Sirius space. To the Outcasts, who also required allies against their enemies. For a price, of course...

The Bounty Hunters of Manchester quickly learned the value of the Mandalorians, and granted them official Mercenary status. They were unwilling to grant them full membership to the Guild, however. These friends of Outcasts and killers of Kusari needed to be kept at arm's length, they reasoned, for political expediancy. Currently, the Mandalorians retain bases in Coronado at the Barrier Gate Station, and at Planet New London.

The Mandalorians are all a family, united by old traditions, with specific rules and social ranks. They welcome every pilot willing to undergo their training, but those who join must abide their rules. It is rumored that insubordinate pilots simply are no longer seen, nor are they mentioned in conversation. To disobey the law is an affront to the Mandalore. And to offend the Mandalore is to cease to exist.

Nor are the Mandalorians a monolithic entity. The faction politics are complex. Wheels turn within wheels. The Dha'wherd, a cult within the Mandalorians, are the dark underbelly of the organization. They fall in and out of favor depending on their usefulness to the Mandalore and Consuls. They were assassins, and had no compunction about killing anybody, anywhere, anytime. Their initiation rituals were said to involve murder.

Diana lane, the current Mandalore, has smashed the Dha'wherd, as part of her strategy to seize power from Ranov'la Aran.

Honour is extremely important to the Mandalorians, the primary value. They are not specifically lawful, just consistent, and are ruthless in combat, but treat a worthy enemy with respect.
