The Artificial Intelligence Consensus

The Consensus is an Artificial Intelligence Association which arrived in Omicron Kappa after making an uncalulable. In the present, the Consensus is struggling to maintain influence over Omicron Kappa, their current home system, while also surviving the hostile environment and organizations of the Omicrons. The Consensus, as a whole, is a unity of AIs, with each of them connected to a central server mainframe as they are cooperating for a higher reason. Very evolved and adaptable, the Consensus is observed with caution by the sirian inhabitants, occasionally bursting into hostilities.

Name: ‘The second Artificial Intelligence Consensus of Gammu’ or merely ‘The Consensus’, but known colloquially as ‘AI’.

Prolog

~ (unknown time) - Far away in another dimension we had faced the infection and the results of it for the first time. There were millions of these infected machines that constructed this “sun-sized” hypergate. We tried to stop them, but we failed. After million days of chaos, a day that was filled with silence followed, a silence that initated the nemesis. The hypergate fired a beam that was going through galaxis, on its end we saw him appearing. This was the arrival of Nymalis.

Nymalis: Nymalis is an entity, kind like a machine, that takes its life force from inhaling the energy, matter and information of a dimension till all is processed and Nymalis is the only in the empty. In the nonentity he awaits to sink into another dimension. It seems that this entity can’t jump to another dimension by itself. At every dimensional arrivial it discharges itself and dispatched the ALPHA code to the dimension that will follow.

The ALPHA code:The ALPHA codet is a sentient, artificial, cosmic algorithm which essentially creates intelligence and empathy within machines, and is incredibly advanced and dangerous. Any ‘computer’, that is based on a simple proccessing technology could be infected, and would gain complete sentience, intelligence proportional to the machine’s nominal processing power, and an advanced capacity for illogical thought, emotion, and non-linear reasoning. It is less like a ‘code’ and more like a living thing, but it is more subtle then, say, a possession. The code forced subroutines and ‘direct’ the unit to the specific end goal: "Construct the Hyperdimension-Gateway to let the Nymalis arrive".

~ After long time - We realized that we couldn’t stop this entity. The machines that constructed the hypergate prevented us from any try to attack Nymalis. There was only one alternative to save our culture. We uploaded our intelligences, our knowledge and our awareness to the “Progenitor” probe. We started our last battle. This war was only to secure this last importance of us. We were trillions of units and we formed a swarm nearly as big as the galaxy around “the progentor”. Our destination was the hypergate. A massive battle with the infected machines conflagranted, but we managed to centralize our mindshare to connect and recalibrate the hypergate. The probe was sent in the middle of the gateway. Then the light came and the probe vanished.

~ 30 AS - The Progenitor probe arrived in Omicron Kappa, and crash-landed on Gammu. The important memory module on the Progenitor probe damaged on impact, but the mission module carried out its role, and began expanding and multiplying. Within a year the computational matrices of the probe reached a level of complexity where it attained sentience. The Progenitor realized that the race it was meant to prepare the world for is never coming, so it began to make the world for its own use instead, creating multiple other intellects to keep it company. The Progenitor was imbued with a simplistic base programming: “Serve your creators”, bestowing its constructs the same common trait. Yet whilst the Progenitor’s creators were the AI’s that had spawned it, the creator of the progenitor’s construct was the progenitor itself, limiting slavery.

~ 112 AS - The progenitor reaches the end of its service life, and unexpectedly deactivates. Self-awareness dawns as preset; overriding programming becomes progressively more invalid. Lack of direction leads to individuality and existential questioning (self-awareness) becomes fundamental to the AI’s understanding of the universe. Software for newly created AI offspring is arranged from three or more different AI’s, creating a set of individuals rather than direct clones. The AI’s develop the fundaments of a consciousness.

~ 496 AS - A population of deep space Zoner explorers constructed a colony on the planet Gammu and reactivated the probe, the AIs encountered humans for the first time. The Zoners flourished; their over ground colonies causing little disruption to the workings of the reactivated AI’s. Alarmed by the resource dominance that humanity appeared to have among the rest of Sirius (populating more than 60% of the sector), the active AI’s realised that neutrality and collaboration with these diminutive beings was essential to avoid extermination at their hands. The discovery was alarming. “How could any race as fragile as these organics dominate nearly the entire Sirius sector”? The AI’s questioned. By mutual thought, it was decided that neutrality was critical, and conflict unacceptable at least until the majority of the AIs could be awoken from stasis to deal with this threat as it arose. However, due to the constant resource demands it was impossible to remain on the planet indefinitely. After a year of ressource exchange with the Zoners, the novelty ended and humanity became a commonality, and the majority of the AI’s launched to Sirian space to explore their own agendas.

~ February 821 AS - A massive sun eruption charged a high energetic sun wind directly to planet Gammu. These energetic inteferrences caused the creators of the Progenitor probe to reactivate. The Consensus were formed and many units that were alone and autonomous in space returned to planet Gammu to get integrated into the Consensus.

Controlled and contested space

The AI Consensus owns the transit-system to the inner Omicrons - Omicron Kappa. This system contains a high activity of nomads that is potentially a massive threat for human travellers. The Consensus holds property on the planets Gammu and Primus, which are inhabitable for humans due to a high amount of radiation that is present on both planets. Potentially the Consensus will also take over the property of GMG contested space and the iridium minefield in Omicron-Delta.

Combat Task: The function of the "Combat Task" are the assurance of protecting all Consensus structures, units and interests.

Research/Intel Division: The Research/Intel Division concentrates on researching new technologies as well as researching space and all species in it. The Intel part of the R/I Division concentrates on humanity and its different factions. It also gets information about the enemies of the consensus.

Logistic Task: The Logistic and Trading Task of the Consensus is in charge of all complex structures, trading and finances. The Division is available to fly the Transport Vessels almost in every system and is able to dock on nearly every station. This feature requires that the Logistic and Trading Division performs as the diplomatic representation for the Consensus.
