Syd was a criminal who survived the destruction of Freeport 7, but was later hunted down by Liberty Officials and shot. He was responsible for handing over the alien artifact to Trent, leading Trent and Jun'ko Zane to search for an expert in these artifacts, Quintane.
Notes
There is speculation that his character model was originally planned for someone possessed by a Nomad. As beta footage screens show him wielding a fist of purple light.
