When we heard about the attack on Red Deer Station we thought it was a mixed bag for the Bounty Hunter's Guild. On the one hand, Liberty's typical lust for vengeance might result in some extra high paying bounties. But on the other hand, an attack on a police outpost is just the sort of thing that gets those preening Navy types talking about "jurisdiction", when they really just want to hog all the glory and press coverage. Still, a few of us are here doing patrols, and we'll see what shakes out. So far, LPI seems to have run with its tail between its legs, and the Navy doesn't seem motivated enough to even enter the system.

They're always off "investigating" when things get hot, and the only intel you can get out of them is the same prattle you can get from the barkeep. I may have to pay the barkeep for it, but at least he doesn't read me the "don't even tell your sweetheart" lecture.

My patrol finally got a hostile contact today. It was at long distance so we couldn't identify the ship, but the IFF was definitely not on the registered list so it couldn't have been government, corporate, or civilian, and that only leaves the criminals. It was traveling from the vicinity of Planet Edmonton towards Cold Lake Nebula and we were on an intercept course with the star at our backs so the cosmic radiation was probably masking our energy profile from detection. We would have been able to identify it and engage about 3 klicks inside the nebula, but just as we were about to enter it we got a priority wave off transmission from Leduc. I can't believe it. First time we actually have a paycheck on the scope and those corporate security weasels decide to get stingy! And now we've been given standing orders not to enter the nebula at all! I sure hope they sent that to the pirates too.

Alignment Lawful

ALLIES:

Liberty Authorities, Liberty Corporations

ENEMIES:

Liberty Rogues, Lane Hackers, Xenos, Outcasts, Gaians, Unioners, Zoners

The Liberty Security Force (LSF) is the intelligence branch of the Liberty Armed Forces, operating in secrecy to ensure the free flow of goods and services in the Liberty economy. LSF agents are infamous for their broad authority and oversight over the rest of the Armed Forces, operating with immense strategic freedom due to a constitutional provision mandating that they answer directly to the office of the President.

Rumors

Battlecruiser Tuscaloosa
  • You one of us? No? Well you should be, because if you put in the right amount of elbow grease the boss will let you stay here and keep the taps flowing for you on the house. It's a sweet deal, but if you do decide to take it, don't screw up. Oh, and don't use me as some kind of reference on whatever resume you're working with. Got problems enough dealing with the Hackers and the Outcasts.

  • I can see why Eska's being called a visionary, the damn Outcasts are paying us in order to enjoy what this place has to offer. They've looked down on us for what feels like an era, and I won't lie in saying that it feels good to return the favor for once. We've earned this, and we might as well enjoy it.

Planet Manhattan
  • Right now Artifact interdiction is the LSF's priority; this comes from the top. Anyone in Liberty caught smuggling Artifacts is going to spend some time in an interrogation chamber, and then a long time on the Sugarland making toys.

  • Sometimes the LSF will employ freelancers that pass our strict security clearance checks. If you are ever lucky enough to serve Liberty in such a way, whatever you do for us will have to remain a secret for the rest of your life.

  • The LSF is keenly interested in any Artifacts that private citizens have purchased, even for private use. They are illegal, and will be confiscated if discovered in your possession.

  • The LSF advises the Navy in various locations throughout Liberty, particularly in those areas known for their Artifact smuggling routes. We also have agents periodically raid the wealthy Liberty elites' private residences in search of Artifact collections.

  • The Lane Hackers have stolen advanced Ageira technology, which has given them the ability to predict and intercept cargo shipments throughout the Trade Lane network. They are a very smart criminal organization, but sooner or later they will make a mistake.

  • The LSF has been on high alert lately. The Liberty Security Force is chartered with providing our government with the information they need to make informed decisions regarding national security matters. We are Liberty's eyes and ears in New York and beyond.

  • Cardamine has become a real problem for the people of Liberty, but so far our attempts to get an operative within the Outcast organization have proved impossible. Somehow they have a way to tell whether or not you are an Outcast.

  • An entire LSF Dark Ops Shadow Team was found in a container on the edge of the Badlands. They had been sent in to interdict an Outcast shipment and capture one if possible. They were all dead and had bags of Cardamine stuffed into their mouths.

  • The LSF has been commissioned with confiscating all Alien Artifacts in Sirius. Not all the other Houses are as cooperative as they should be, so sometimes we are forced to take unilateral action. Kusari officials have been particularly lax in their enforcement of the ban.

Chadwick Station
  • Working here is an honour. Being in one of the most high tech research facilities in Liberty is something that all scientists inspire to. However, it is very hard to live so far from our own families and more civilized areas, for periods of up to a year without a break. I haven't seen my daughter for a long time, and our calls are restricted to one per month over a monitored line.

  • Last week, a man infiltrated our base and left with some classified information. I believe he tried to gain some plans related to a recent technological development in antimatter research. However, the foolish spy didn't get far. A patrol managed to intercept his transport and neutralize it.

  • Visitors are extremely rare here, since few people are trusted enough to keep this base and all it contains a secret from the public. All the knowledge held here is like Pandora's Box. If you opened it, it could have severe consequences for the entire Sirius sector. I'm sure you remember what happened when citizens all across Sirius were told that many members of their government and military were being controlled by aliens? Panic and pandemonium gripped them. We can't allow that to happen again.

  • Some members of the political elite complained that a lot of money was wasted during the construction of this facility to buy certain non-essential goods. I don't know why they kept thinking that, since as far as I can see all the money was carefully distributed and accounted for.

On another subject, have you tried our pool table that is in the next room? It is made out of fully matured Terumi wood. It also has a diamond sanded frame and slate to ensure the best playing surface. Oh and don't worry if you break something, we have a lot of spare equipments.

Cordova Shipping Platform
  • There is a LSF agent that's been skulking around the station lately. I was just about to turn a corner in the corridor when I overheard him say something about "dark matter influenced", but then he stopped talking as soon as he heard me. These spooks are worse than naval officers. If they aren't trying to pull rank, they're looking down their noses at you with that "need to know" look they teach them in spook school. They're always off "investigating" when things get hot, and the only intel you can get out of them is the same prattle you can get from the barkeep. I may have to pay the barkeep for it, but at least he doesn't read me the "don't even tell your sweetheart" lecture.

  • My patrol finally got a hostile contact today. First time we actually have a paycheck on the scope and those corporate security weasels decide to get stingy! And now we've been given standing orders not to enter the nebula at all! I sure hope they sent that to the pirates too.

  • When we heard about the attack on Red Deer Station we thought it was a mixed bag for the Bounty Hunter's Guild.

Planet Erie
  • Why'd I join the LSF? Good pay, good hours, good medical care. It is not a bad job if you are careful. What did I do before this? Well I was a model doing work on Denver, and I still do some from time to time. Do you know that I was crowned Miss Alaska amongst the LSF? Maybe I'll even run for a senator position on Manhattan someday. Uh, you're asking me where Alaska is? Um... uh... it's a suburb of Crichton Springs on Denver. Yeah.

  • The Zoners colonized planet Erie in 761 AS, but Liberty moved into the system in 768 AS, after we realised that we'd screwed up in not bothering to colonize this system. I arrived here in '09, and enjoyed it so far. We've had a few problems with the Zoners on occasion, and we hear from our sources that the Xenos and the Liberty Rogues have both set up bases in the system fairly recently, but with the Gettysburg in orbit I doubt we'll get any problems on the planet itself.

  • I love this planet. It is so quiet and peaceful. There is hardly any crime here either. Officially the Zoners control Erie, but naturally Liberty has a vested interest here. I was posted here to keep my ears open for any information or rumours that might come my way, but there is hardly ever anything. Like I said, this place is quiet and peaceful. I'd prefer it if it stayed that way, although some people wouldn't, like that LPI officer, Jake Bullet.

  • We've been on rotating supervisory assignment ever since the Attica incident. Officially, of course, we're just helping train LPI SWAT teams, and maintaining the cordon on the Kepler gate.

  • Between you, me, and a Trade Lane, these donut-chomping dullards couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. We'd have an easier time if we cut our contract with them entirely and split the budget surplus fifty-fifty with the Navy.
