Chateau Salins was built in 768 A.S. (684 A.G.S.), at the time when Pirate activity in Lorraine was already on the rise. Originally designed to harvest rare minerals from the volcano world it orbits, the Marne Rebellion has reduced activity on the station to a near standstill. It currently serves as a makeshift Shipyard, maintaining Navy Fighters and various civilian craft that runs supplies to and from Metz.
Given the extravagent cost of harvesting minerals from the scorching Planet Mirecourt as well as increased terrorist and pirate activity in the Lorraine system, the station was passed on to the Gendarmerie. It is currently used as their HQ in Lorraine, but the station itself is woefully undergunned and is frequently the target of heavy Maquis attack, often requiring reinforcement from the Epinal's airwing.
