Edison Shipyard

History:

Edison Shipyard was a DSE-run shipyard for the construction civilian ships that was built in 310 A.S. It was located somewhere within the Colorado System. It was the birthplace of many, many ships before it was closed and the work was outsourced to Rheinland and primarily Kusari. Edison was the second-to-last DSE shipyard within Liberty, and its closing left Baltimore Shipyard as the only Liberty-based shipyard left in existence - and it, in truth, was reduced itself, only being responsible for the creation of Prison Liners and Luxury Liners. All the other non-naval ship-based construction work was conducted within Rheinland or Kusari.

Most of the workers employed at Edison joined the Xenos or Rogues once they lost their job. A few employees were reintegrated back into DSE in other locations, primarily Baltimore Shipyard, which was now solely responsible for the only civilian ships manufactured within Liberty - and exclusive, big-ticket ships at that.

The closing of Edison in 593 A.S may have been one of the greatest reasons that the modern Xeno party (which was founded just ten years later) is as big as it is and has legitimacy in the mind of modern Liberty. The base as it exists today remains a poignant reminder of Liberty's once-great and self-sufficient economy.

The Xenos actually rebuilt Edison Shipyard into Ouray Base in 734 A.S. This change in function, from shipyard to home of the wronged workers remains a poignant reminder of what happens when one sacrifices economic stability, patriotism, and the care for the common man for the almighty credit...
