Created in a remote facility in the Shikoku system under the codename 'Project Warflower', the "Iris" is the Golden Chrysanthemums' answer to the superior fighters of the Kusari Naval Forces. By studying salvaged technology from the wrecks of naval fighters, the Golden Chrysanthemums managed to combine the armored structure of the Orchid with the agility of the Blossom. The result was the creation of a new fighter capable of matching the Wyvern in combat, whilst being easily manufactured using the technology available to them. The first successful prototype was completed in 826 A.S. and lived up to it's promise in it's first combat deployment. Almost immediately afterwards, the "Iris" was set for mass production, becoming readily available to all Golden Chrysanthemum operatives, in every corner of Kusari.
