The Orchid is the Golden Chrysanthemums design, to rival the Blood Dragon Bomber. The Blood Dragons assisted in her development, but the Chrysanthemums had a different set of specifications in mind. They wanted something that could rival military bombers, sacrificing some agility and speed for firepower and armour. The women that drive her wanted something that could deal a nasty blow, and were willing to sacrifice some, but not all, of the maneuverability of the Blood Dragon bomber, and as design progressed, it drifted more and more from its cousin ship. Ultimately, the final prototype of the Orchid resembled a Kusari Naval Forces ship, in both form and function.

The Orchid is simply a beautiful ship, though the infocard is misleading. It should definitely be categorized as a light bomber. Its handling is absolutely superb and allows it to keep pace with most VHFs. Its competitor, the Falcata, has a much more sluggish response time. If the enemy VHF is not shieldrunning, you can SNAC him easily, because the Orchids torpedo/CD hardpoints are not that much spread out. Against capital ships, you should be careful, because it has a very low hull and is not the smallest vessel around. Using its agility is absolutely important. Additionally, the gun slots are neatly centered, allowing it to hit narrow ships more easily, than, for example, the Falcata or Roc. If you are looking for a light and aesthetically pleasing bomber, the Orchid should be your first choice.] Error creating thumbnail: Unable to save thumbnail to destination Review by Xenosaga |
Recently changed from Light to Medium Bomber, it still remains strong. Being one of the most agile Medium bombers in the game, with having excellent gun placement and solid Snac one, it's a ship you can't go wrong with. Armor is average for a Medium bomber, and the only con this ship has is the size – it has a very big butt.
Pros: Agility, Gun placement
Cons: Size
Rating: 8/10
