History
Childhood and Education
It was a very stormy and windy day on Leeds when Victoria Alexander gave birth to her son James. The pregnancy was not easy and complications caused the death of James' mother during the birth and with his father killed in september 765 within service for the military he became an orphan right on the first day of his life. Thomas and Julie Mitchell adopted the little boy and to honor his real parents they gave him the second name Alexander.
During school James was very interested in biology and so he later graduated from Newcastle school with a straight A. Very soon he received a scholarship for Wellington university where James started to study medicine with surgery as major subject.
A doctor's career
As an intern on Alexander Fleming Hospital on Planet Leeds, Mitchell made his first experiences with the medical branch apart from studies. Patients were relying on him, ward physicians always watching his diagnosises and a lot of stuff to learn.
Mitchell later said "...only war could be more worse than the work facing an intern during his first weeks in hospital but I guess I won't ever see a war."
When his first patient died right in front of Mitchell he was very close to quit his apprenticeship in hospital and to change back to university for studies in biology but the thought on his mother dying during his birth made him even stronger.
His efforts to save sick people already given up by other physicians grew to the maximum and sometimes he was sucessful. During his first second years in office he received three commendations from his senior physician. The third year in Alexander Fleming Hospital started in surgery, Mitchell's chosen major subject.
Sirius Red Cross
In the office
In july 809 A.S. Mitchell was invited to the newly founded Sirius Red Cross by the acting director Robert Jones. By that time Mitchell hasen't heard a word about the SRC and was very surprised that an organization was about to start medical support for no cost. Jones offered Mitchell a job as a senior physician in the first planet based facility on Planet New London. Even with no payment in the first year of the Sirius Red Cross, Mitchell accepted the offer and moved to New London.
The Godfrey N. Hounsfield Hospital, a former and later abandoned facility of the military, was refurbished to meet the designated use. Mitchell became head of the surgical ward and after six years in office even of the hospital itself.
Aboard the Sacred Heart
In 815 A.S. the Sirius Red Cross bought the former Prison Liner Hildesheim from the Rheinland government to establish a mobile hospital. Not involved during the planning phase, the directors of SRC made Mitchell the commanding officer of the first vessel.
On 02/14/815 he went to Hamburg to be transfered to Alster Shipyard.
Not as shocked as the directors of SRC were, Mitchell started to make fun of the stripped vessel. It's rumored that he gave her the nickname "assembly kit". During the transfer of the liner he was spotted a lot of times on the bridge all alone with a mug of coffee watching the stars passing by.
