Kamchatka Base is a Coalition installation strategically situated on both the borders of the Edge Worlds and Rheinland which serves many purposes. Originally constructed as a SIGINT listening post when Rheinland withdrew from Omega-55, the facility was expanded over the years to house small numbers of fighter wings for deep recon patrols and staffed with Coalition scientists to study the various stellar phenomena of the system, including the nearby Aarhus Planetoid.
When the Core began to move their forces into Omega-55, Kamchatka was quickly expanded with larger hangars, thicker armor, mooring fixtures for Typhoons and Hurricanes. The base now serves as the Coalition's forward operating base for operations in the eastern Omegas, and her Fighter compliment sees frequent skirmishes with Core forces in the area.
