Estergebirge is a tectonically active planet with the bare remaining vestiges of an atmosphere yet to be scythed away by Omega-55’s solar wind. While known to Rheinland’s initial survey of the system more than two decades ago, focus was instead directed towards the more xeno-archaeologically significant Absconsum elsewhere in the same system; as a result, its considerable mineral wealth has gone nigh-undisturbed since.

When Omega-55 was rediscovered - And with considerably more experience and caution in dealing with Artifacts under Rheinland’s belt - Estergebirge was examined more thoroughly. Rich reserves of practically every elemental metal clash together, form compounds such as platinum, and copper practically rains down from the skies as endless volcanic eruptions radiate across the cracked and magma-seeping crust. The planet would easily suffice for classical depictions of "Hell" were valuable metals such as gold easily discernable from planetary scans across old lava courseways.

This mineral wealth has since brought all comers in the Omegas, each seeking to stake a claim; Rheinland’s resident corporations have made noise at the government to establish a colony nearby, the IMG has dispatched scanning probes to the surface, and rumors also claim that the Red Hessians, Coalition, and Corsairs have been observed "sightseeing" from high in orbit, amidst its ring of uranium-isotope rock asteroids.
