In 798 A.S., construction was started on the Jump Gate leading to the Chugoku system, with most of the workers coming from Deep Space Engineering. Officially, the Kusari government stated that the Chugoku system holds a considerable amount of mineral wealth that would benefit thous house economy.
The jump gate construction project and the Trade Lanes leading to it were originally supposed to have been completed in 803 A.S., but due to the actions of the Blood Dragons and their allies, the project has been frequently disrupted and stalled and work is still being carried out. Samura Industries stated the gate's estimated completion date would be 820 A.S. by the latest, but others remain sceptical as to how much the project may cost as well as how long it will take.
The station that was originally designated as the Chugoku Gate Construction Site was a supply depot for the work being carried out on the gate. But has since been handed over the Kusari State Police to provide further security to the project due to increased Blood Dragon activities as the project nears it's completion. The station, now retrofitted for Police purposes now hails as Otaru Border Station, and watches closer than the Battleship Matsumoto on the proceedings of DSE's work to ensure the gate's swift completion.
