Valhalla 1 is an artificial structure constructed by the Daam-K'Vosh and placed in the mountains on Planet Manhattan. Discovered in 15 A.S. by a Liberty survey team, it is the most tightly guarded secret Liberty keeps, and the deciphering of its contents is responsible for the most impressive of human accomplishments since its discovery. From Jump Gates and Trade Lanes to Docking Rings, Ageira Technologies has turned the contents of Valhalla 1 into the foundation of modern human technology.
Origin
Before leaving the Sirius sector, the Daam-K'Vosh left a variety of resources for the Slomon K'Hara to find and manipulate. The greatest of them was Valhalla 1, a library of information containing some- perhaps all- of the most important advances made by the Daam-K'Vosh. Amongst this information is a way for the Nomads to gain independence from the energy that fuels all Daam-K'Vosh technology; the final step for their development in Sirius.
Human Contact
Discovery
In 15 A.S., a survey team located Valhalla 1 deep within the Pike Mountains on Planet Manhattan. Scientists determined that the structure was over 100,000 years old and constructed by an alien intelligence- the first evidence of any non-human intelligence ever discovered. Upon this realization, the Liberty military immediately seized control of the structure, the surrounding area, and all information related to it. It's very existence is now classified under the Omega Protocol, any breach of which is considered high treason. All scientists and surveyors were debriefed and psychologically analyzed for six months, at which time those who could not be trusted to uphold the Omega Protocol were subject to solitary life imprisonment for the sake of national security.
Access
For over a year, military specialists worked to gain access the structure. Valhalla 1 proves impervious to all known weapons, but a physicist named Dr. Wade Walker manages to decode an inscription along the outside, which equates a polyphonic musical scale to basic chemical elements. Using this information, he is able to craft a musical 'key' which unseals the structure.
Contents
Valhalla 1 contained a multitude of artifacts and holographic crystalline matrices, which were transferred to a secret military research facility in Cheyenne after their initial arrangement was extensively cataloged. Translating even the table of contents on a single crystalline cube can take as long as three years, but the data stored within contains information enabling huge jumps in human technology. Ageira Technologies is contracted to make use of discoveries made from the Valhalla artifacts, and has turned the information into such devices as Jump Gates, Trade Lanes, and Docking Rings.
Purpose
Amongst the information gleaned from Valhalla 1 was a brief description of its intended purpose- it describes itself as the product of the Daam-K'Vosh, a "seed library" designed to impart a carefully calculated portion of their technology to their successors. No information was provided on who those successors might be, though modern researchers believe them to be the Nomads.
Current Status
While the contents of Valhalla 1 were moved to Cheyenne, the structure itself is still classified under the Omega Protocol and studied. To this day, the mere existence of the structure is unknown to all but a handful of government officials and the researchers directly working with it.
