Constructed at Yokohama Shipyards in 798 A.S., the Battleship Matsumoto is one of the Genji class battleships that were built primarily as mobile bases and for securing key locations from pirate forces, rather than for the crushing brutality of frontline warfare against other capital ships, where manoeuvrability is often the key. As a result, the Matsumoto lacks the agility of its brothers but packs in considerably more armour, sensors and firepower. With the end of its assignment protecting the Otaru Border Station construction, paired with the deteriorating situation in Nagano, in 824 A.S. the Matsumoto battlegroup was issued new orders. The forces redeployed to the contested system with the bulk of the KNF Northern Fleet in support, intending to stop further Blood Dragon incursions within the new territories.
