Orbiting Planet Odessa, Mykolaiv is at the height of Coalition science and reverse engineering. Many of the Coalition ships and weapon systems were prototyped here, most of which being modified versions of technology either bartered from allies, or stolen from their enemies. Although small, facilities exist to produce and repair large Coalition warships.

Some of its most notable breakthroughs include the Kalashnikov Tachyon Cannons, the Storm-class gunboat and the fearsome Typhoon-class Destroyer. Rumours persist that an old Sol battle cruiser was recovered, but there is no evidence that this is, in fact, true.

The Coalition's Chief Engineer, a master of reverse engineering Sirian technologies, resides on the station.
