I found the code we need to edit in order to get rid of that absurd flower, but I can't use CVS to edit wiki/local/pgcust.php

Code is this:

$PageLogoURL:

<?php if (!defined('PmWiki')) exit(); $WikiTitle = "Discovery Wiki"; $PageLogoUrl = "<image URL>"; ?>

Ship Handling

I cant find any ship that has info specified under "Handling". Should we just write our personal experience how to fly a ship like that? Such as giving tips for maneuvers and stuff.

Example: Starflier

The basic LF is one of the most maneuverable ships in the game, and its almost impossible to hit if piloted by an expert. The ship offers only basic firepower and is not suitable for serious combat. It's mainly used for racing, dodging, combat training ect...

I think people should write about their experience with ships they flew. It would make thing a lot easier for heavy spenders searching for their finest craft. For example,

this ship does not say it can't shoot down, which i think its important for a wiki article to address. ~Balthazzar

Yes, The handling section was designed for exactly "unable to shoot below it" kind of info. Please keep the Handling section as objective as possible. There are some examples of ship handling sections, that'll I'll try to find. Chovynz 20:55, 13 June 2009 (MDT)

Quick Reference

I suggest instead of listing houses we list regions. Liberty, Kusari, Independent Systems, and Border Worlds would be among them.I think this makes it a lot easier to get to the independent, edge, border, and nomad systems information.

Thanks, Newsun1

It's a "house". House it will stay. Thanks for the suggestion though. Chovynz 19:12, 18 October 2008 (MDT)

I understand they are a "House" but that is regardless of my suggestion. Only listing houses leaves a lot of the map in the dark. It's just better for navigation in my opinion.

I've edited the main page to a combination of what you are asking and what we currently have. Take a look at one of the 6 houses that we have so far. You will see that there are systems located in the house infobox already. It is a simple matter to find a system under one of those house/regions. I'll be adding the other "regions" soon, but they link to the same sort of page. Chovynz 20:56, 30 October 2008 (MDT)

Houses

Since the Corsairs and the Outcasts are considered unlawful Houses, should we add them to the Houses list under the Quick Reference Section? If we can, we should either make a flag for the two factions (I don't think one exists yet) or leave a blank mini-picture there because without it, the words are off center.

The flags are being worked on. By all means add the other two houses, they should be in there.Chovynz 02:55, 3 October 2008 (MDT)

Ship Ideas

I was thinking. Since you have the old Battlestar Galacticas and the new one in your mod, why not include the Battlestar Pegasus. I have a model of it if you want it. Anyways just thought id ask. Keep up the good work and cant wait to the next version.

Main Page Layout/Format

I like how the actual layout is, but we should probably use softer colors; if you take a look at wikipedia's main page, it uses more of those, and is MUCH easier on the eyes.

Why is the text after "Other servers" in bold? I would think that the links to beginners stuff and the rules would be bolded before anything else. Sovereign 22:24, 1 June 2008 (GMT)

Forum Links

Should forum links really be must-read (that's what's currently on the page)?

The big advantage of Wikis over forums is a better overall readability. Many forum threads are cluttered with stuff useless for someone seeking information, taking it hard to read them and find the information you're looking for.

I advocate using the Wiki as the main place to store such information. If some data should not be modified, there's the possibility to protect pages. With proper linking, it should be much easier to find whatever someone is looking for.

Not doable. The forum's up for 3 years now, and most people will still be reluctant to use the wiki for posting new things.

Forum contains lots of info that won't be transferred to wiki in the nearest future. Page was intended as a source on where to seek certain forum info. For now let it be. Later link might be removed from the main page.
