Originally constructed by Deep Space Engineering as a supply depot for the Chugoku Jump Gate project, this station was turned over to the Kusari State Police before the construction was even finished, to provide security from the near constant raids by Blood Dragons attempting to keep the Gate from coming online. Even though the gate failed to properly target the Chugoku system, the Blood Dragons have made repeated attempts to destroy the gate.
Built under siege, Otaru Border Station became fully operational in 822 A.S., and its role expanded from overseeing traffic at the Gate to broader defensive operations along the Trade Lanes. As suspicions between Kusari and Gallia rose along the Tau Border, the base was improved again to better ward off any suprise attack, as well as the influx of foreign Criminals which Kusari has seen cross their borders. Its improved armament is now thought to have lasting power in even the heaviest of combat and Blood Dragon raids on the station and the gate have been significantly reduced for the time being.
