Despite its remote location within the Truyere Asteroid Field, Aurillac is the oldest known pirate base built in the Auvergne system. Possibly one of the first permanent bases within the system, it lies on an alternate jump hole path between Auvergne and Provence. A double jump hole connection between two systems is a rarely encountered phenomenon, documented in only a few locations around Sirius. The population of the base is heavily involved with the slave trade, maintaining one of the largest slave markets in Gallia within the base. Most of the Slaves come from separatist systems, with others originating from Berry, Lyonnais and other Core systems. Aurillac is also an important part of the Nox smuggling route, but the substance is not usually sold onboard the station since local Brigand leaders want to prevent spreading the addiction within the population of the base.
