The aptly named Atlas class transport is the foundation upon which the the next generation of Colonial efforts stand. With conventional transports being increasingly reliant upon an ever more closely linked sector the demands upon interstellar performance have all but vanished. Confronted with increasing political pressures within the systems linked by house trade networks and jumpholes, the Colonial Republic crafted a vessel capable of serving its needs between houses and in the black between stars.
Boasting impressive armament atop a hull designed to suffer intense stellar radiations, the Atlas is the lifeline between the fledgling groups of struggling nation of the past, and the empire of the future.

- This ship is too large to use docking bays, it must use mooring points.

The Atlas is a monster of a vessel birthed from the Colonial Remnant/IMG relationship and is used effectively by both parties on a regular basis. Perhaps it is just these two parties that can successfully use this vessel efficiently, as it takes an expert and alert captain to keep it from the clutches of pirates and terrorists alike. Do not be fooled into thinking this solid vessel under masses of steel and alloy is so easy to fly. You will no doubt be using this ship to fly at 350kps in straight lines about 95% of the time if you are to use it efficiently. The rear engine exposes the vessel to smaller disruptors occasionally, and will always be stopped by wide radius missiles unless countered accordingly. Due to the tonnes of iron and steel alloy the engineers have piled onto this vessel's hull the turning circle of this ship is atrocious. However it seems reasonable compared to the armor value of 130,000 which comes in handy if you find yourself landed in sticky situations against bombers. Those who can use a countermeasure dropper effectively will escape from most one on one situations. Overrall you will find this vessel to be rewarding in the long run, but frequently irritating when entrusted to autopilot. The terrible maneuverability also comes as a consequence of interior size. The two orbs suspended behind those shields of hull armor allow up to 2100 units each, giving the ship a max holding capacity of 4200 units. Very useful for mining operations when running those precious ores to and from the Miners at haste. However this vessel has been used to fly with incredible grace by those who created her. The Atlas is notorius for running around blockades and shaking off any slower adversaries resulting in bounties being placed on them a common sight in the siriuswide bounty boards.Error creating thumbnail: Unable to save thumbnail to destination Review by Chad Jones |
